The key difference lies in scope and approach. Therapy involves the diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional diseases and disorders, focusing on healing from trauma, addressing underlying psychological issues, and working through deeper emotional wounds that impact relationships. Coaching focuses on skill development, goal achievement, and practical problem-solving through action-oriented approaches that build specific tools for communication, conflict resolution, and relationship enhancement.
Both approaches can be highly effective, and the choice depends on your specific needs and circumstances. It's worth noting that while my therapy practice is limited to Florida residents due to licensing requirements, I can provide couples coaching to clients anywhere, as coaching doesn't require the same licensing restrictions as clinical practice.
Yes! In our work you can come to the office or do virtual sessions, or both. No commitment to one way or the other is necessary.
Yes! Even though I focus on relationships, I often see individuals who are dealing with relationship issues of all kinds. What I mean by that is most of us are carrying some pain / wounds from our childhoods (relationship with parents), previous romantic relationships, previous traumas with others, even our relationship with ourselves and how we can turn on ourselves. So, yes, I welcome individuals who want to feel better.
This is an age-old question and largely yours to answer. Some people love having a therapeutic relationship and value having this resource long-term. Others want to get in and out as quickly as possible. And then there’s everyone in-between.
If you’re asking this question, you may be the in and out type. If you have a discrete issue you are ready to come in and solve, the average time is about 3 months. Keep in mind this is a very broad average. Your time LARGELY depends on how quickly you do the work and when you feel ready to leave.
Yes! I offer Coaching if you are out of state.
This means I cannot diagnose or treat mental or emotional diseases or disorders. I can teach and train you on all the skills, techniques, etc. to solve problems, improve communication, handle conflict, build trust, and design and create the relationships you desire.
As of now, insurance companies do not reimburse for Coaching.
